Simply and quickly, "ekklesia" is the Greek word for church. But the original meaning of ekklesia never meant a place or a building or an institution. An ekklesia was a "group of called out people for a specific purpose." Ekklesia Yuma exists to glorify God and make disciples by leading diverse people to the healing love of Jesus.
Our weekly gatherings will look very different depending on what week you attend. One week you might experience singing in English and Spanish with a full band leading us and the next week we may worship in silence and solitude. You'll hear some pray publicly and others will pray silently as we lift up the needs of those around us. You can be sure that you will hear a message from the Bible, but probably not like you might expect. You will always be challenged to take what you've learned and apply it immediately to your life situation. We will share what is happening in our lives as individuals and as an ekklesia. Because we are a multi-ethnic, multi-generational, socio-economically diverse group of people, you will need to "get comfortable with being uncomfortable." We want to see the fulfillment of Revelation 7:9 happen here in Yuma, AZ...people from every tribe, nation, and tongue standing together worshiping the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
